This 23" flat top china doll has her original cloth body and leather hands, with one thumb missing from her left hand. There is a crude original repair to her shoulderplate, and some rubs to her black hair. Her face is prettily painted, with blue eyes, and an orange eyelid line. Pale pink blush. She has her original orange striped stockings!
This civil war era doll has WRITTEN PROVENANCE on her back. It says:
Annabell - great grandmother's doll. 1860. Given to Clair Lopus June 1981. "19"
She is wearing appropriate clothing made from antique satin and velvet, in the style of a young girl of the 1860's. She has an antique marcasite brooch on the top.
In spite of her damage, her beauty, original body, and her provenance make her a doll to value!
