| English made metal canteen covered in canvas with frayed strap. Carried in the Civil war by William L. Dunn, MD, a Confederate doctor under Col. John S. Mosby's command. A letter from his nephew describes the canteen and states ''Col. J.S. Mosby drank from this pitcher when he was wounded at Annandale, Virginia(water it was not).'' 7 1/4'' x 5 1/4''. | |

| CIVIL WAR TIN IMPORTED CANTEEN FROM MISSISSIPPI, 6" X 6" X 2.5", made in France [model 1858] tin canteen imported into the US for both Union and Confederate armies. This example came from a Mississippi estate from which a nice Confederate carbine box originated from in the 1970's. Such canteens came in through Charleston. Complete with stopper. Louisiana and Mississippi state governments in 1861 imported these as well as guns and ammunition via Charleston | |

| Early wood keg canteen made from hand hewn oak and blacksmith made iron hoops. Used for water or ale. Measures approximately 8 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches in diameter. The spout holes has some old worm damage. The two middle iron hoops are loose from aged shrinkage to the oak wood. No markings on keg which is common for this type of relic, circa 1830. | |
